This deed made this 9th day of March 1883, between Samuel E Shelton and Sarah A his wife, of the first part, and Thomas Shelton of the second part, Witnesseth that in consideration of two hundred dollars in hand, paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the party of the first part doth grant with general warranty, a certain piece or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the County of Patrick, on the waters of South Mayo River near T. S. Campbell's Mill, containing 41 1/4 acres and is the same land the party of the first part purchased of Saml. G Staples, see Deed Book No. 22 p 409 and bounds as follows, to wit: Beginning at a white oak, on the road, thence N77 E48 po crossing a branch to a white oak N45 E 3 1/2 po to a gum. S43 E46 (or 76) po to a sourwood S60 W72 po, crossing said branch to the corner of a fence, with a fence west 8 poles N76 W41 po to a white oak N20 W and with a lane 43 po to a gum W40 po to N2 E 22 po to pointers S70 E 40 po to the beginning with all wood ways, water courses, etc.

In the office of Patrick County Court on the 9th March 1883, this deed was presented, acknowledged by Saml. E Shelton to be his act and continued for tax. On ? 23/84 said deed was admitted to record as to said Shelton.
